From here, the Cotswold stone quarried at nearby Taynton was shipped down river to London for the rebuilding of St Paul's Cathedral. The lock is still well used, but today's traffic is largely pleasure craft seeking the quieter reaches of the Thames.Small boats can be hired by the hour from Riverside Boatyard.

 Ideal base for touring the Cotswolds and only 250 yards from the Thames Path and River Thames. We now have key fob controlled access to the park, showers and toilets. A £20 fully refundable cash deposit is required.
